Angelika Seik Gallery: I have decided to write about my work in more detail. Here is a start.
While I was at the Paedagogische Hochschule in Weingarten, Germany from 1972-1975 I had to do a course in sculpture. It was to me a decisive time, a ‘Lichtblick’ moment. I used to be a frustrated painter, but after that I knew exactly what I wanted to be: A SCULPTOR ! It would take some time to get there. But on that first afternoon,I was so exited, that I made 3 sculptures in one afternoon and did not want to leave the studio.
'Sitting Figure 1973': In my time at college we had many meetings, when everybody would just sit on the floor while endless discussions went on. The seated figure seemed to me an ideal vehicle to show all sorts of things. It could be a free standing figure and it did not need a plinth.

John Ruskin: The Elements of Drawing

"Go out into your garden, or into the road, and pick up the first round or oval stone you can find, not very white, nor very dark; and the smoother it is the better, only it must not shine. Now if you can draw that stone, you can draw anything; I mean anything drawable".

I had a lovely 4 days working in public during this festival in the heart of our village. Met so many interesting people from all over the world

and caught up with a number of old friends.

Started to work on an elephant sculpture, made of Scottish Sandstone. Everybody loved him already and he is called: “The Pink Elephant”.

Dorset Art Weeks, Venue 26: Had a quiet start today, but I managed to get quite a bit of work done. And this afternoon 14 people came to visit, in spite of the dreary weather.
